Valley accident: 76-year-old man pinned under vehicle, taken to hospital in critical condition

The owner of a Valley business was trapped under a vehicle Tuesday afternoon and taken to the hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said.

Officers were called to Marketplace 559, on Fob James Drive, around 1:55 p.m. CDT about a 76-year-old man underneath a 2008 GMC Yukon, reports state. The Yukon had been backing up to the business to unload some goods while the man was behind guiding the driver to the door.

The East Alabama Fire Department was also called to the scene, and they lifted the vehicle, allowing the man to escape, police said.

The man was taken to George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition. The accident is under investigation by the Valley Police Department.
