Fort Benning has a variety of holiday events beginning 6-8 p.m. Dec. 3 when Santa claus shows up at Riverside, the commanding general’s quarters.
The Infantry Band's annual holiday concerts are at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Bill Heard Theatre, RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, 900 Broadway. It's free, but you must have a ticket. Free Christmas trees will be given to active duty soldiers and their families beginning at 10 a.m. Dec. 8. Trees for Troops will be in the main post car wash parking lot. The trees are donated by Christmas tree growers through the Christmas Spirit Foundation and FedEx Corp.
The annual Christmas tree and menorah lighting ceremony is at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 on the Field of the Four Chaplains. The Infantry Band will provide a selection of holiday music before the ceremony. Following the tree and menorah lighting, Fort Benning military police will escort Santa Claus to “Santa’s Workshop,” where he will hear holiday wishes from the children.

Live reindeer and Santa Claus' sleigh will visit the Villages at Benning Welcome Center at 5-8 p.m. Dec. 9. Some of Santa’s helpers will be on hand with treats and serving refreshments. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and photograph their children in Santa’s sleigh.
