Southern Girl Entertainment, which brought PlayDate to Columbus, is now hosting the Ninth annual Million Minute Family Challenge. The challenge is part of National Game & Puzzle Week, Nov. 22-28.

PlayDate is a social gathering for adults who like to play board games like Monopoly, Risk and Life.

The Million Minute Family Challenge is a family event. Organizers want families to play board games together for at least 20 minutes. The goal is to have 1,000 families playing together.

The event is 1-4 p.m. Nov. 21 in the North Columbus Branch Library, 5689 Armour Road.

Randalette Barnes, owner of Southern Girls Entertainment, says playing board games is a great way to interact with your family. Games teach social skills, and can sharpen vocabulary, spelling, math, creative writing and critical thinking skills.

And it's not just for families. People can with friends from church or work.

Barnes will show participants how to log on your family or group's minutes online.
