Columbus Council now has but four meetings left in 2009, and city workers that same number of days off.
Councilors voted this week to cancel a meeting scheduled for Dec. 22, three days before Christmas, which falls on a Friday this year. City workers will be off both that Friday and the Thursday before.
Their other two holidays remaining are Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, and the Friday immediately following it.
While canceling their Dec. 22 meeting, councilors also voted to change their Dec. 29 meeting from a work session at which city leaders approve a consent agenda before being briefed on particular issues, to a regular council meeting.
