A 44-year-old Columbus told police she fought a man trying to steal her cell phone Friday and won.
She kept her phone, but went to the hospital complaining of neck pain after the man pushed her down and went through her pockets, find nothing to steal.
She said she was walking on 37th Street between Veterans Parkway and River Road about 10 p.m. when the man tried to snatch her cell phone from her hand. She refused to give it up, and a struggle ensued.
The man snarled an insult at her and shoved her to the pavement, went through her pockets and then ran. An ambulance took the woman to Doctors Hospital. She was unable to give police a precise description of the assailant.
