As tradition dictates, city leaders Tuesday likely will approve closing Broadway twice in December for a holiday celebration and a parade.
Downtown motorists who may not be so much in the holiday spirit should be prepared to alter their routes.
Uptown Columbus and the Business Improvement District have applied to have Broadway from 10th Street north to 12th Street closed 5:30-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, for the annual downtown Christmas celebration.
Columbus Parks & Recreation has asked to have the southbound lane of Broadway from 13th Street south to Ninth Street closed 6 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to limit parking along that side of the road as the annual Christmas parade passes through.

The police department has approved both permits, which now go to Columbus Council.
