Muscogee County School District: Administrators to answer questions about Marshall, Baker and Carver moves at town hall meeting

Marshall Middle School will host a town hall meeting next week for parents and families concerned about combining Marshall Middle and Baker Middle students at one school next year.

Baker and Marshall students will attend classes on Marshall's campus, while Carver High students will be moved to Baker beginning in fall 2010.

The proposed moves are temporary while the district constructs a new Carver High School. The $45 million school is one of several construction projects that will be built using funds generated from a 1 cent sales tax that goes into effect in January 2010.

Construction of a new Carver could take about two years. Administrators will spend the rest of this school year preparing for the moves, then use the about 60 days of summer vacation to move Carver to Baker, and Baker to Marshall.

The forum will be at 5:30 p.m. on December 15 at Marshall Middle on Shepherd Drive. For more information, contact Cynthia Jordan at cjordan@mcsdga.net or 706‐748‐2899.
