Former 'Clown Prince of Golf' Bumann dies at 79
Paul Bumann, once known internationally as the "Clown Prince of Golf,' has died at 79.
His funeral will be Friday at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Eastern.
Bumann traveled the world doing his comedy act.
He also served as golf pro at several places including the Green Island Country Club and Callaway Gardens.
In his later years, his successful career was overshadowed by an incident in 1985. An Oldsmobile driven by an intoxicated Bumann hit the motorcycle of 16-year-old Kenneth Pumphrey. Pumphrey died and Bumann went to prison for vehicular homicide. He was originally sentenced to 15 years and served 17 months.
Bumann was an Army veteran having served in the Airborne at Fort Benning.
