On Monday's dramatic episode of "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love," bachelor Jake Pavelka stopped the rose ceremony before handing out the final two roses. He left the room in search of host Chris Harrison to ask if he was required to give out both roses. Vienna, Jesse and Ashleigh waited in another room to see if they would receive roses. Chris took a rose away. The final rose was given to Vienna.
Though he could have selected six bachelorettes to continue on the show, Jake chose to keep only five.

The bachelorettes who remain in the competition:
Ali: 25, an account manager from Massachusetts
Tenley: 25, Oregon
Gia: 26, a swimsuit model from New York
Corrie: 23, Kissimmee, Florida
Vienna: 23, Florida
When she was eliminated, Jesse said she wished she'd been more open with Jake. "I really needed to step up my game and I didn't... Why Vienna?"
Ashleigh wondered the same thing. "Vienna over me, really? Are you kidding me?... I'm the most mature... I was the real one in the house... The person who is a liar and a deceiver is staying."
Next week, Jake and the remaining five bachelorettes will travel to San Francisco. "Thank you so much for hanging in there and believing in me and trusting me."
Here's a recap of the show:
The remaining nine bachelorettes piled into two RVs for a trip along the California coast. Jake, traveling by motorcycle, greeted the ladies at several destinations along the route. Tenley, Ali, Jesse, Kathryn and Ella rode in one RV while Gia, Corrie, Ashleigh and Vienna were in a second RV. The final destination of their road trip was Big Sur. A two-on-one date was set for Jake, Ella and Kathryn. One bachelorette was supposed to be eliminated after the date and one was supposed to get a rose. The trio sat down for a romantic dinner at a cabin. Ella was chatty, but Kathryn had a hard time joining in the dinner conversation.
During his private chat with Ella, Jake talked about how much he enjoyed meeting Ella's son, Ethan, during a previous episode. "I feel like, with you, if I'm not absolutely sure, I don't (want to) keep you from Ethan," Jake said. Ella replied, "I would love to stay and figure this thing out, but either way you're incredible."
When Jake took Kathryn aside for a conversation, she complained that she didn't feel like Jake was paying any attention to her. Jake apologized and said he was just being cautious because Kathryn was so beautiful. "I feel like you and I have a really great start to something," Kathryn told Jake after their chat.
When the three re-united, Jake took Ella outside. "Ella I think you're such an amazing person... I just feel that I'm developing feelings that are just a little stronger for some of the other women," Jake said.
"Be wise in who you choose," Ella told Jake as she departed.
Jake went back in the cabin to see Kathryn. "You just have such an honesty about you... you're going to meet a guy that's absolutely going to sweep you off your feet and I want to be that guy, but my heart is just telling me that I'm not that guy," Jake said.
"I don't understand... I thought we had a really great conversation," Kathryn said.
After both women left, Jake said, "I know in my heart that neither Kathryn or Ella was right for me."
Before tossing the unpresented rose into a fire pit, Jake said: "This is the first of many decisions that I'm going to make that no one's going to understand. It's just going to get worse."
The first stop on the RV trip was a vineyard near Santa Barbara. Gia received the first one-on-one date of the episode.
"She's totally wrong for him," Vienna said as Gia rode off on Jake's motorcycle. Gia was wearing high heels for her vineyard tour which earned the scorn of most of the other bachelorettes. They couldn't see the New York City gal with the country guy.
After a game of hide 'n seek through grapevines, Gia confessed to Jake that she was a nerd in high school. Jake said he could relate. In ninth grad he was called Mr. Dateless. It was eleventh grade before Jake kissed a girl. Gia's unspecial first kiss was during a game of spin the bottle. Jake said he'd never played. The two finished a bottle of wine and created their own version of the kissing game.
"It felt perfect. It felt right," Gia said about her first kiss with Jake. Gia told Jake that her life goals included having two children and adopting a daughter from China. Oh, and having a pet pig.
Gia seemed to enjoy building a campfire and roasting hot dogs with Jake. The city girl said she liked not having to worry about how her lipstick looked. "It just felt real and fun," Gia said. Jake must have felt the same way. He gave Gia a rose at the end of their date.
During Gia's date with Jake, the group-date card arrived. Tenley, Ali, Jesse, Corrie, Ashleigh and Vienna were invited.
Vienna wasn't happy about being selected for the group date. "I feel like Jake's my boyfriend. I don't want these other girls with us," she said.
When asked what she would do if Vienna got a rose after the date, Ali said: "I'd puke."
Pismo Beach was the group-date destination. Jake warned the bachelorettes that the date wasn't going to be fancy. "My goal for today is to see, as beautiful as they are, can they get dirty and have fun, cut loose, act silly and take chances?"
The group took dune buggies and drove in the sand. Ali called shotgun in Jake's buggy. Then, the group went sand surfing. Everyone got dirty. Thanks to a fall, Tenley got to roll around the sand with Jake. A picnic on the sand was next on the agenda. For their one-on-one time, Corrie and Jake rolled down the hill.
For the group dinner, Jake and the ladies checked into an inn. Showers were taken, hair was curled and makeup was applied before the meal.
Jake wanted to get each bachelorette alone for a conversation to explore his feelings.
"Ashleigh is smokin' but I'm just not feeling a lot of chemistry with her," Jake said.
Ali used her one-on-one time to remind Jake that he'd only get to choose three girls to keep on the show after the three early roses were given. Jake said he wanted to enjoy the night and not think about the stressful rose ceremony ahead.
During his chat with Tenley, Jake asked more about her ex-husband. She explained that her ex was a police officer who had an affair with someone in his department. Jake gave the group-date rose to Tenley.
Vienna asked Jake for the last one-on-one conversation because she wanted to be the last girl to kiss him goodnight. Jake agreed but during their chat, he told Vienna that he thought she was "egging on the other girls."
"I like Vienna. I really do, but I've been pumping the brakes with Vienna a little bit 'cause I've been listening to what some of the other girls have been saying about her. And I've seen a couple of red flags. I'm a little concerned at this point," Jake said.
At the cocktail party before the rose ceremony, Jesse told Jake that she didn't think Vienna was "right for him." Ali told Jake that she thought it was "unbelievably honorable" that he eliminated both Kathryn and Ella when he realized that neither was "the one."
Eliminated during week three:
Michelle, the 25 year old from California, was asked to leave the show before the rose ceremony. "He just kicked me to the curb," she said.
Valisha, 32, said, "I came with a heart that was open... I'm used to things not going my way."
Elizabeth, the 29-year-old nanny from Nebraska, told Jake she wasn't going to kiss him unless she was the last woman left on the show. "I'm upset... I just feel like I have an idea of who he is and what kind of man he is and I felt like we were advancing as a couple."
Eliminated from the show during week two:
Rozlyn Papa: The 28-year-old model was asked to leave the show after being accused of having an "inappropriate relationship" with a producer on the show. The producer was fired. Rozlyn has denied that anything romantic or sexual happened.
Ashley: 29, a teacher from Pittsburgh. "Though it sucks that I'm going home, and that I didn't find my Prince Charming, I don't want to see him hurt again."
Christina: 25. "I'm disappointed because Jake is someone that I definitely could see myself marrying." She added that she knew "for a fact" that some remaining girls weren't on the show for the right reason.
The women who left the show on the first week:
Alexa: 25, Ohio. She's an adrenaline junkie who wore gloves to meet Jake. She told him he could ride her Harley if she could drive his plane. Not happening.
Elizabeth: 29, Washington D.C. She said the greatest loves of her life have all been pilots.
Channy: 29, California. She told Jake something in her native Cambodian. Translation? "You can land your plane on my landing strip any time." Jake's response? "Oh." Translation? "No."
Kimberly: 24, an NBA dancer from Oklahoma. She suggested they put their football wars aside. To show how serious she was, she said "Hook 'em 'horns."
Emily: 21, Ohio. She's a fitness model.
Tianna: 31. The Canadian medical technician said she told her girlfriends that she was going to marry Jake when he stepped out of the limo on last season's "The Bachelorette."
Caitlyn: age 24. She's a model from Illinois.
Kirsten: 25, Colorado. She wanted to slap Jillian when she let Jake go last season.
Stephanie: 24, a dance teacher from Illinios. She wanted Jake to save her the first dance of the night. He did.
Shelia: 25, a pilot from California. She gave her aviation sunglasses to Jake since they're both pilots.
