Several area potters joined Jon Brinley, the owner of this kiln at Sweetgum Pottery in Midland, Ga., in glaze-firing nearly 50 pieces of potter. They loaded the kiln Friday afternoon and begain stoking it with wood Saturday morning in an effort to get it to 2,400 degrees. Brinley said they would probably use a cord to a cord and a half of wood. They hope to open it today to review the results.
