LaGrange police arrested a man Sunday they say is responsible for 19 burglaries over the past three months.
Jerome Alford, also known as Larry Wilson, 44, faces charges of burglary, theft by taking and obstruction of an officer. He was arrested early Sunday near All Pro Hyundai, 224 Commerce Ave., when officers responded to a burglary in progress, reports state.
Police began noticing an increase in burglaries on LaGrange’s south side since October. Through an investigation, they developed a suspect who reports identify as Alford.
Around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the Hyundai business on Commerce. The suspect fled from the area, and officers formed a perimeter. A canine team tracked the suspect to the Degroat Street area, where he was arrested.

Police link Alford to burglaries on Commerce Avenue, Miami Street, Ringer Street, Hill Street, West Crovat Street, Calumet Center Drive, Lafayette Parkway, Colquitt Street, Brenda Boulevard, Martin Luther King Drive, Matthews Street, Dora Street and Edgewood Avenue, reports state.
