William T. McCaskey pleaded guilty to child molestation in July 2008.
On Monday, the 54-year-old was sentenced.
McCaskey was sentenced by Muscogee County Superior Court Chief Judge John Allen to three years in prison, followed by 12 on probation, said Assistant District Attorney Brad Bickerstaff. Indicted in November 2006 and booked into jail in May 2007, McCaskey initially faced two counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of child molestation for a June 10, 2006, incident.
McCaskey had psychological issues and went between jail and West Central Georgia Regional Hospital during his incarceration, Bickerstaff said. A pre-sentence investigation had been ordered, but hadn’t been completed by Monday.

The prosecutor said that Allen heard the facts of the case and then sentenced McCaskey.
“That’s the judge’s job,” Bickerstaff said. “He gets to pass sentence.”
The prosecutor added that no medical evidence existed in the case. Also, his office hasn’t been able to contact the victim since McCaskey’s guilty plea.
