A 54-year-old sentenced Monday to three years in prison on a child molestation charge was released from jail Tuesday.
William T. McCaskey pleaded guilty to child molestation in July 2008, said Assistant District Attorney Brad Bickerstaff. Indicted in November 2006 and booked into jail in May 2007, McCaskey initially faced two counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of child molestation for a June 10, 2006, incident.
McCaskey had psychological issues and went between jail and West Central Georgia Regional Hospital during his incarceration, Bickerstaff said. A pre-sentence investigation had been ordered but hadn’t been completed by Monday.
The prosecutor said that Muscogee County Superior Court Chief Judge John Allen heard the facts of the case and then sentenced McCaskey.

Attorney Joseph Wiley, who represents McCaskey, previously said his client should be released from jail, because he’s already served the three years’ incarceration.
