Downhill racer and Olympic medal hopeful, Lindsey Vonn, is slowly but surely healing after a Feb. 2 injury to her right shin during slalom training threatened to take her out of the games, The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Vonn, of Park City, Utah, was supposed to practice Thursday, but bad conditions on the course put off her run and her chance to test her injured leg. The Salt Lake Tribune said Vonn was glad to have the extra day to heal.
"I was happy to be back on snow today," Vonn told the Tribune. "My shin was still very painful, but I feel like the injury is finally progressing a bit. I am always disappointed when a training run is canceled, but in this situation I definitely welcome the extra day to heal."
Opening ceremonies for the the Winter Olympics 2010 will kick off tonight in Vancouver. The show airs at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.
