Taking first place in the Westminster Dog Show's herding group tonight is a puli, a sheepdog with a long coat that appears corded and moplike.
Second in that group was a Belgian sheep dog. A bearded collie was third and a German shepherd fourth.
The top dog in the non-sporting group was a French bulldog. A Shar-Pei placed second, a bulldog third, and a miniature poodle fourth. First in the toy group was a poodle, second a Pekingese, third a Shih Tzu, and fourth a papillon. A whippet took first place in the hound category. Placing second was a greyhound. A Scottish deerhound came in third. Fourth place went to the Petits Bassets Griffons Vendeen.
From 8 to 11 p.m. Tuesday on the USA Network, viewers can see the sporting, working and terrier groups, climaxing with the contest for "Best In Show."
