Today is a big day for downhill skier and Olympic gold hopeful Lindsey Vonn.
The women's downhill kicked off in Whistler, BC in Canada at 11 a.m. It's the first of five races she's scheduled to attempt.
Vonn has been nursing a severely bruised shin she received in a Feb. 2 pre-Olympic practice in Austria. Weather delays on the mountain have given her a little more time to recuperate, though.
"Today our training run was cancelled (sic) by weather again which was ok by me I probably wouldn't have done the run either way," Vonn wrote on her Facebook page Tuesday. "Yesterdays (sic) bumpy training run definitely set my shin injury back a bit so I was happy to see the training run cancelled (sic)."
