Columbus State University will host a Science Olympiad regional competition for local middle school students on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main campus.
The event will include 13 teams from 11 schools competing against each other in a variety of hands-on science challenges in the areas of biology, computers, chemistry and physics. An event will end with an awards ceremony at 4 p.m. in the University Hall auditorium.
Winners of the Olympiad will qualify for the Georgia Science Olympiad in Augusta.
Schools competing include: Blackmon Road Middle, Flint River (2 teams), Richards Middle (2 teams), Rothschild Middle, Veterans Memorial Middle, Arnold Middle, Double Churches Middle, East Columbus Middle, Fort Middle, Harris County Carver Middle and Midland Middle.
