LAGRANGE, Ga. — Former Columbus mayor Robert "Bob" Poydasheff announced his support Thursday for Columbus attorney Josh McKoon, who is running for the District 29 Georgia Senate seat, according to press release by the McKoon campaign.
“I want to declare my support for Josh McKoon. We all have our differences, but I am here because he is a man of integrity … I am here because he is a man of his word. I am here because I am absolutely convinced he is going to serve our senate district with honor, dignity, self awareness, and a complete understanding of what our region needs,"Poydasheff stated in the release.
Poydasheff, who served as mayor from 2003 to 2006, was also on Columbus City Council from 1994 to 2002. McKoon thanked Poydasheff and said in the release he was humbled.
McKoon, who was born in Columbus and practices law with McKoon & Associates, is the only candidate in the race after Columbus attorney Ron Mullins recently announced he was giving up on the seat to run for a spot on theMuscogee Superior Court.

District 29 includes all of Harris and Meriwether counties, part of Muscogee County and more than half of Troup County including part of LaGrange.
