Crystal Bowersox hospital update: American Idol contestant will perform tonight

Crystal Bowersox will perform on American Idol tonight, Ryan Seacrest said in a tweet.

Seacrest's tweet, which he sent at 7:49 p.m., notes: "Yes she is performing..live in 10 min."

About 90 minutes before tonight's episode of "American Idol," host Ryan Seacrest tweeted it's still uncertain whether semifinalist Crystal Bowersox will perform.

"I'm still in a run thru..uncertain. Planning for either way," Seacrest wrote.

Approximately three hours earlier, Seacrest tweeted that he was in a meeting about Crystal's performance, or maybe lack thereof.

If Crystal can't perform tonight, just one female contestant will likely be eliminated Thursday, executive producer Ken Warwick told Seacrest this morning. That implies Crystal would be disqualified.

Warwick said the specifics of Crystal's health concerns are still unclear, but she did have an existing medical condition. USMagazine.com cites a source who says she was sent to the hospital because of diabetes complications.

Tuesday afternoon, Fox issued a statement that said the top 10 men would perform Tuesday, due to "medical issues" that would prevent contestant Crystal from singing. The last-minute schedule swap surprised many fans.

Cystal Bowersox is a dreadlocked mom from Ohio who has wowed fans with her acoustic renditions of tunes like "Natural Woman."

Weigh in: If she's too sick to perform tonight, should Crystal be eliminated?

The top 10 women -- maybe top nine, if Crystal doesn't recover -- perform 8-10 p.m. tonight on Fox. Follow our "American Idol" blog for live updates throughout the show.
