Troup County identifies top 10 largest employers

LAGRANGE, Ga. — Troup County's top 10 largest employers were announced by county officials Tuesday and represent a mix of old and new industry, as well as local governments.

Troup County Schools tops the list with 2,011 staffers. Textile manufacturer Milliken is the second largest employer in the county with 1,984 employees and auto giant Kia comes in at number five with 1,203 employees.

The county is home to Kia's first and only North American manufacturing plant. The $1 billion facility went online late last year and is expected to eventually generate about 2,500 direct jobs.
