Reports that Crystal Bowersox almost quit "American Idol" blew a "simple, civil conversation" out of proportion, the "Idol" front-runner told E! Online in an interview.
Regarding last week's reports that she considered leaving "Idol," but was consoled by host Ryan Seacrest, Bowersox said:
"I never intended on quitting. None of that [was true]. We had a conversation, but it definitely didn't go down the way that it has been portrayed as. We had a simple, civil conversation. Ryan gave me great advice. And I highly respect him. I am not mad at Ryan Seacrest. He is a great man. We just bumped into each other and had a good talk."
The rumors surfaced late last week. Shortly after that, "Idol" semifinalist Katelyn Epperly said Bowersox texted her and said she'd been betrayed by Seacrest.
Bowersox led the pack when the seven remaining "Idol" contestants sang inspirational songs on Tuesday.
She cried at the end of her performance of "People Get Ready," which she said was a result of her father being in the audience.
Tonight, one contestant will be eliminated during the "Idol Gives Back" charity special. It airs 8-10 p.m. on Fox. Follow our "Idol" blog for live updates during the show.
