A woman has died after she was hit by an electric bike on the Dillingham Street Bridge earlier this month, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Lisa Anna Finan, 44, died Tuesday at Columbus Hospice House, according to her obituary from McMullen Funeral home. Finan was hit by the bike, ridden by a teenager, and struck her head, according to Bryan.

Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer that Finan was standing on the bridge watching the sunset when the incident occurred, but a police report shows multiple witnesses said Fanin was running along the north sidewalk when she was hit in the back by the bicyclist, who is 17. Witnesses estimated the cyclist was going between 20 and 30 mph, according to the police report.

“At that point she had a traumatic brain injury,” Bryan said.

A report from the Columbus Police Department indicates the incident happened Aug. 5. The report says an officer responded to the Dillingham Bridge for an accident with injuries. The report shows a Bluvall e-bike was seized as evidence.

“We have to rule that one as an accidental death,” Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer.

Finan’s funeral mass was scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, located at 2000 Kay Circle in Columbus. Finan’s obituary said she was a very talented artist who loved painting and was referred to by friends and co-workers as “The Crazy Cat Lady.”

Finan was born in 1979 at Martin Army Hospital in Ft. Benning, according to her obituary.

“She was a peacemaker, best friend to many and spirit of service to others,” her obituary said.

A statement released by CPD on the incident said, “On August 5, 2024 around 9 p.m., our Patrol officers responded to an accident with injuries on the Dillingham St. Bridge near Bay Ave. The injured person was pronounced deceased on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 1:17 p.m.”

The case was still under investigation Thursday, according to the statement.
