Michael "Big Mike" Lynche was eliminated from "American Idol" Wednesday night -- for real this time.
Lynche, who was saved by the four-judge panel during the top nine stage of the competition, got the boot after a shaky rendition of "Will You Be There" from "Free Willy" on movie songs week.
Initially, Lynche was recognized mainly for his back story: His wife gave birth while he competed in the Hollywood phase of "Idol."
He built a fan base with some solid R&B ballads, though some viewers perceived him as arrogant.
Three singers remain in the competition: Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze and Casey James. Footage of their hometown visits will air next week.
Fantasia, Daughtry and Bon Jovi performed on Wednesday's results show.
