The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Tennessee Department of Transportation had a grand opening Friday for a new Tennessee Welcome Center, the first in the state on Interstate 26.
It is located in Unicoi County near Erwin.
Designed as a log cabin, the center can be accessed via both eastbound and westbound lanes.
Erwin is located east of Johnson City near the North Carolina border. Interstate 26 is approximately 349 miles in length running through Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Tourism pumps $14.4 billion into the Tennessee economy each year.
