TIC Federal Credit Union said today its new branch in Phenix City — and its first in Alabama — has opened at 3722 U.S. Highway 280/431, which fronts the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
A grand opening ceremony is scheduled 11 a.m. Thursday, although the credit union says local residents can stop by anytime for a tour and a cup of coffee.
The new branch, purchased from Dothan, Ala.-based Five Star Credit Union last year, was gutted and converted to TIC’s “dialogue” design, which is airy with plenty of ways to handle transactions via staffers or machines. That includes three drive-thru lanes with an ATM.
“The opening of our first Alabama branch is an exciting time in the history of our credit union,” Janet Davis, TIC president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
“We are proud to be able to offer even more convenience for our members who live in the Phenix City and Smiths Station communities,” she said. “We are confident that our experience and service-based culture will resonate with citizens in the local communities.”
Davis has previously said the property purchase and renovation of the new branch should cost no more than $1.5 million. The credit union also has land on Riverchase Drive in Phenix City for future expansion.
Columbus-based TIC was founded 54 years ago. It is the ninth-largest credit union in Georgia with more than $200 million in assets. It has more than 40,000 members in Georgia and Alabama. For more information on the financial institution’s branches and hours, go to www.ticfcu.com.
