Because of technical glitch, Callaway Gardens will put on FREE fireworks show Friday night

Those who haven’t had their fill of fireworks can venture to Callaway Gardens Friday evening.

The resort in Pine Mountain, Ga. — which held a Fourth of July celebration on Sunday — said it will open its gates for free starting at 5 p.m. for a second round of pyrotechnics. A technical glitch with Sunday’s fireworks is the reason.

“After a great day of fun, sun, circus performances and a concert on July 4th, the fireworks finale was not up to Callaway Gardens’ standards,” Rachel Crumbley, the resort’s public relations manager, wrote in a release.

A failed electrical system kept some of the fireworks from launching, she said. East Coast Pyrotechnics Inc. has conducted the show for more than 15 years.

Callaway, located about 30 minutes north of Columbus, will open its beach gate on U.S. Highway 27 at 5 p.m., with the fireworks show scheduled to start around 9:30 p.m. In between, guests can view the Florida State University Flying High Circus beginning at 7:50 p.m., and take in activities on Robin Lake Beach.
