Columbus crime: Burglars target multiple businesses over weekend

Burglars hit several businesses over the weekend, all of them apparently targets of a smash-and-grab style of theft.

Three businesses at a shopping complex at 6125 Macon Road were hit between 4 and 5 a.m. Sunday: Chu’s Cuts, K C Beauty Supply and Apna Bazaar. The suspect or suspects threw a brick through their front doors, causing $600 in damage at each business, reports state.

A cash register inside the beauty supply store worth $800 was broken, police said.

Suspects also struck at For Sale By Owner at 5300 Sidney Simons Blvd., around 4:10 a.m. Sunday. They threw a trash can through a window, causing less than $500 of damage, and took a $4,000 plasma TV, reports state.

Hollywood Nail Salon, 5887 Veterans Parkway, was burglarized around 3:10 a.m. Sunday. Someone threw a brick through the glass door, causing $500 in damage, reports state.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle may be a dark, older model box Chevrolet that needs engine repair.
