State Little League Tournament: Northern, Murphey Candler win early games

The Columbus Northern Little League team won its opener in the state tournament 9-2 over Warner Robins on a hot Sunday afternoon with temperatures in high 90s.

Northern got homers from Kobie Buglioli, Zac Cravens and Matthew Lang.

Jacob Pate started on the mound and went three scoreless innings to earn the victory.

Northern will play the second of its four pool play games tonight at 7:30 against Brooks.

Murphey Candler continued to score runs in bunches. After scoring 20 on Saturday, Murphey Candler scored 25 in a shutout of Midway on Sunday.

The tournament is being played at American Little League on Double Churches Road.
