Columbus delays action on recycling proposal with Fort Benning

The city of Columbus has delayed plans to consider joining forces with Fort Benning on recycling services when a new Recycling Center is built in Muscogee Technology Park.

Both the city and Fort Benning now process recycling materials at a temporary location and are in need of a permanent facility. Columbus officials are working with an architect to design a new center north of the Pine Grove Landfill off Schatulga Road.

City Manager Isaiah Hugley announced the proposal had been delayed at Tuesday’s Columbus Council meeting.
