Lee County courts: Marsha Kay Hardy, accused of solicitation to commit murder, pleads guilty to lesser charge

An Opelika, Ala, woman accused of trying to have someone killed has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, authorities said.

Marsha Kay Hardy — also known as Marsha Brewer, Marsha Goodson and Marsha King — faced charges of solicitation of murder, chemical endangerment of a child, first-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance and possession/receipt of a controlled substance, records state.

On Friday, she pleaded guilty to first-degree solicitation to commit assault and unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, said Lee County District Attorney Nick Abbett. She was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by five on probation.

“Three years will give her time to think about what she’s done,” Abbett said.
