Aflac founder, CEO inducted into hall of fame

Paul Shelby Amos, Aflac Inc. co-founder and chairman emeritus, and Daniel P. Amos, company chairman and chief executive officer, have been inducted into the International Worksite Marketing Hall of Fame, the company said.

Inductees of the Workplace Benefits Association’s Hall of Fame must have formed, changed, enabled or impacted the worksite landscape in the marketing arena.

“Paul Amos helped build the supplemental insurance industry and Dan expanded it to a new level,” Walt Podgurski, association chairman and CEO, said in a statement.

Paul S. Amos has been credited with developing Aflac’s cluster-selling sales model, which led to dramatic growth for the firm.

Dan Amos was at the company helm in 2000 when the Aflac Duck campaign was launched. The duck has helped boost the company’s brand recognition to more than 93 percent.
