Highly-rated cornerback Jonathan Rose commits to Auburn

Leeds High's Jonathan Rose, who Rivals ranks as the No. 3 cornerback in the country, committed to Auburn during a Sunday night newscast.

Rivals ranks the 6-foot-2, 170-pound Rose as a four-star recruit, the No. 2 overall player in Alabama and No. 60 nationally. Scout lists him as a three-star recruit and the No. 31 cornerback in the nation.

Rose, who announced his intentions on CBS 42 in Birmingham by revealing a Tigers T-shirt, chose Auburn over a long list of schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida State.

He is the Tigers' 14th commitment for 2011 and their fourth defensive back, joining Izauea Lanier (East Mississippi Community College), Anthony Swain (Gadsden City, Ala.) and Devin Gaulden (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).

Rose made 48 tackles and five interceptions as a junior at Leeds.

His father, Charles, played defensive back at Auburn from 1992-96.
