Update: Severe thunderstorm warning for Russell, Lee counties has expired

A severe thunderstorm warning has expired for eastern Lee County and north-central Russell County.

The warning was scheduled to expire at 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service said a storm moving through the area could create winds of up to 60 mph. The storm was near Opelika, Ala., around 5:20 p.m. and moving southeast at 5 mph.
