Tree on power line cuts power to 280 customers in Lakebottom area

A limb from a pecan tree that fell on a power line has cut power to 280 customers in the Lakebottom area, officials said.

A report of a limb on a power line in the area of St. Elmo and Cherokee Avenue reached dispatchers after 3 p.m. Georgia Power was sent to the area and remained on the scene as of 5:45 p.m., said Robert Watkins, with Georgia Power.

Watkins estimated that power would be restored to everyone by 6:30 p.m.
