Forecasters now say high will miss record

Weather forecasters have reined in their dire predictions for today’s high temperatures in Columbus.

Both weather.com, which had predicted a high of 103, and the National Weather Service, which had predicted 99, now say this afternoon’s high will only hit 97. That would fall one degree short of matching the record of 98, set in 1991.

The rest of the week and the weekend should still be hot, with highs in the mid- to upper-90s and overnight lows in the high 70s and the chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
