Columbus Council agrees to move forward with $10.6 million city pool

Columbus Council agreed Tuesday to move forward with a $10.6 million plan to build a city pool.

The 10-member council agreed to build 51,233 square foot structure on nine acres it acquired off Macon Road. The pool is part of a $32 million project to also build a city service center and parking garage.

When completed, the building will feature 900 seats and 10 lanes for competition swimming.

City Manager Isaiah Hugley said the city is working on a business plan to manage the facility and all the groups that have worked for a place to swim.
