Heat index could hit 103 degrees today, 104 Wednesday

The summer heat shows no sign of slacking off this week as the daily heat index keeps inching up.

The index that gauges the cumulative effect of temperature, humidity and other conditions is expected to be 103 degrees today. On Wednesday it could be 104 degrees, says the National Weather Service.

Forecasters are predicting actual highs in the upper 90s every day this week.

Sunny and hot today, high 98, heat index up to 103, east wind 10 mph. Partly cloudy tonight, low 74, east wind 5 mph.

Sunny and hot Wednesday, high 98, heat index up to 104, east wind 5-10 mph, 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly cloudy Wednesday night, low 77, south wind 5 mph and turning calm, 10 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms before 8 p.m.

Partly sunny and hot Thursday, high near 97, south wind 5 mph, 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy Thursday night, low 77, 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms before 8 p.m.

Partly sunny and hot Friday, high 98, 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy Friday night, low 79, 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms.

Mostly cloudy and hot Saturday, high 97, 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy Saturday night, low 78, 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms.
