Today is Friday the 13th, a day that is popularly associated with bad luck and horror films.

Many people make a holiday of the event, treating it almost as a mini-Halloween with horror movie marathons or by playing pranks on one another.

Others still are afraid of the day and the legendary bad luck associated with it. A fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia.

According to Wikipedia, there is at least one, but no more than three, Friday the 13ths in any given year. The 13th will fall on a Friday if the month begins on a Saturday.

Whether you celebrate the day or hide from superstition waiting for it to end, there is a lot of interesting history on Friday the 13th and also plenty of ways to party the night away.
