Phenix City crime: Man arrested for allegedly robbing Church's Chicken

Phenix City police have arrested one man and are looking for another suspect in the Thursday night robbery of a Church's Chicken.

According to police, the armed robbery occurred just before midnight at the Church's Chicken on the U.S. Highway 280 bypass. Two armed men robbed the store while employees were preparing to close for the evening, police said. . The suspects fled the store on foot.

One of the suspects, 24-year-old Anthony Lee Randolph of Hurtsboro, was apprehended minutes later walking a short distance from the scene. He attempted to toss a weapon used in the robbery into the woods just before being apprehended, police said.

The weapon was located and taken into evidence. Randolph was charged with first-degree robbery and taken to the Russell County jail.
