Troup County crime: Christopher Drake, 36, caught, now faces drug charges

A man wanted by Troup County authorities on drug charges who failed to turn himself in after his release from a hospital has been caught.

Troup County Sheriff’s deputies found Christopher D. Drake, 36, around 4 p.m. Friday. They arrested and took him to the Troup County Jail. He currently faces charges including possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, trafficking cocaine, possession of hashish oil and a probation violation. More charges will likely follow, a release states.

Drake was found unconscious in his vehicle on Aug. 2 and taken to a Columbus hospital. When deputies searched his vehicle, they found different amounts of various drugs, a release states.

The next day, authorities executed a search warrant at Drake’s home, finding 2 1/2 pounds of suspected marijuana, several bags of suspected cocaine and more than $21,000 in cash, authorities said.

After his release from the hospital, Drake didn’t turn himself in to authorities, a release states.
