Lee County crime: 2 suspects rob teens at Poor Boy’s Landing; 1 teen shot in back

Lee County deputies are searching for two gunmen they say robbed and shot at a group camping at Poor Boy’s Landing in Salem, Ala., early Saturday.

The two men and two women, all 17-years-old, awoke around 8 a.m. CDT to two men holding weapons and demanding their cash and valuables. One of the suspects hit a teen with a shotgun, causing a small cut over his eye, said Capt. Van Jackson.

The suspects took two cell phones, a car stereo and cash from the teens before fleeing. As they fled, the suspects fired several shots at the group and the same teen that had been hit with the shotgun was struck in the lower back, the captain said.

He was taken to a Columbus hospital, treated and released. No one else was hurt, Jackson said.

The first suspect is a tall black man, about 5-foot-9 and in his early to mid-20s. He wore his hair in dreadlocks and had gold teeth, Jackson said.

The second suspect was thin and in his early to mid-20s with low cut hair, the captain added.

Both wore white tank tops, dark pants and dark work boots.
