Woman netted in online prostitution bust released from jail

A South Bend, Ind., woman caught in an Aug. 3 online prostitution bust has been released from jail, records state.

Candita E. Ortiz, 27, left the Muscogee County Jail Wednesday after serving her State Court sentence, jail logs show. She had faced charges of prostitution and solicitation of sodomy.

Sgt. Bill Gasaway testified that he was searching online adult escort websites on Aug. 3 when he found one with the headline: Latina.

He called the number on the ad and spoke with the suspect. After setting up a meeting, Gasaway went to the Days Inn, 3452 Macon Road, around 5 p.m., reports state.

They talked about prices and Gasaway gave her money. That’s when other officers entered the room and made the arrest, Gasaway said.

Ortiz was the second woman netted in a prostitution bust in as many weeks. Teri Rigley, 38, was arrested July 25 at the La Quinta Inn, 3201 Macon Road, and has since made bond.

Both women are from South Bend, Ind. It’s unknown if a relationship exists between the two defendants.
