Academy Award winner to lead program at Clemson

An Academy Award winner has been named the director of the Digital Production Arts program at Clemson University. It is a graduate program for professionals in the film, video and gaming industries.

Jerry Tessendorf has worked on films such as "Titanic," "Superman Returns," and the "X-Men" series.

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences bestowed Tessendorf and three colleagues an Oscar for technical achievement in 2008 in recognition of their development of custom fluid dynamics tools that allow artists to create realistic animation of liquids and gases.

Tessendorf will be a professor of visual computing in the Clemson School of Computing.
