Havertys to open Columbus Park Crossing furniture store Oct. 7

Haverty Furniture Companies has set the date for the debut of its new Columbus store.

The Havertys showroom, which is going in a renovated former Circuit City location at Columbus Park Crossing, will open with a ribbon cutting 11 a.m. Oct. 7, the company said today.

It will be the 15th store in Georgia for the Atlanta-based retailer, which was founded in 1885.

The company said the grand opening event will include special sale prices and financing, with customers able to register to win a $2,500 shopping spree.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to serve the furniture consumer in Columbus and surrounding area with this exciting new showroom,” Clarence H. Smith, Haverty president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Cheryl Drawdy is manager of the Columbus store at 5555 Whittlesey Blvd.

Haverty Furniture is a public company, with its shares (Ticker: HVT) traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares were trading at just under $11 apiece at mid-afternoon today.
