Online prostitution bust nabs woman at her home

The latest online prostitution bust netted a woman in her Wynnton area home — a first for Columbus police since the rise of adult Internet ads.

Agent Tony Cooper spotted the ad around 3 p.m. Saturday and texted the suspect. After a few messages back and forth, the suspect agreed to meet and told the agent to go to 1902 12th St., said Sgt. Bill Gasaway.

Cooper arrived at the home near the intersection of 12th Street and Owsley Avenue around 3:40 p.m. The woman agreed to perform sex acts for $150 for half an hour, police reports state.

“He gave a code word and myself and others went to the door and knocked on the door and took her into custody,” Gasaway said.

The suspect is identified in reports as Brittany J. Parda, 23, whose occupation is listed as customer service with Aflac.

Gasaway said he made a prostitution arrest at a suspect’s home about two or three years ago, but that was before the prevalence of online adult ads.

Gasaway’s unit has made several prostitution arrests this year, which stemmed from online ads on classified websites. All, except for Saturday’s, led officers to hotels.
