Two local parents have been named to the state superintendent’s parent advisory council.
Starla DeSaussure, from Muscogee County and Jenni Spears, from Harris County, have been chosen to serve on the council, which will meet with state superintendent Brad Bryant three times a year to discuss education issues in Georgia.
The parent council will provide feedback to Bryant on policies and projects that affect students and their families. They will also serve as ambassadors from the state to their communities.
DeSaussure and Spears were nominated to serve on the council by their local school districts and were chosen by a committee of representatives from the Georgia Department of Education.
The first meeting of the council will be October 6 at the Georgia Department of Education.
