LaGrange College launches educational travel program

LaGrange College is launching a new educational travel program just in time for Christmas.

The first of the educational trips, which will tour different areas of the country and hopefully the world, will be to Nashville this winter.

The Nashville Holiday Tour will be from Dec. 14 to Dec. 16. It will be led by LaGrange College President Dan McAlexander and his wife Celeste Myall, who lived in the area prior to coming to LaGrange.

The trip will feature visits to the Grand Ole Opry, an annual ice sculpture exhibit, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage and Lynchburg, Tenn. Accommodations will be at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.

"We think this is a fun way to blend fellowship and education," Martha Pirkle, director of alumni and community relation, said in a press release. "We want to build and strengthen ties between the college and our friends in the LaGrange area."

Pirkle said another trip is being planned for the spring. Ultimately the college hopes to have two or three trips a year and eventually include international travel.
