Property owners in Columbus might still have a jingle in their pockets after paying taxes this year.
At least 40 percent of the tax bill is due Friday, but this year there is a $30.1 million rollback after voters approved a 1 percent Local Option Sales Tax. If you own a home valued at $100,000, the one-time rollback means you'll pay about $200 less in taxes.
If you don't pay the total tax bill Friday, the other 60 percent balance is due by Dec. 1.
The Muscogee County tax commissioner mailed 35,000 to 40,000 notices in August.
