Coastal restoration conference organized by Auburn University, others set for Oct. 5-6

Auburn University is partnering with various state entities to host a coastal restoration conference, which is set for Oct. 5-6.

U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Mary Landry and members of Gov. Bob Riley's Coastal Recovery Commission are scheduled to attend and speak.

Other speakers at "Alabama Road to Restoration: Integrated Recovery Strategies for the Gulf Coast" will include: citizens, business people, local officials, directors of state agencies, health care professionals, legislators, scientists and federal agency administrators.

There will also be a series of panel discussions on issues related to the oil spill.

The conference will be held at Perdido Beach Resort and is open to the public but registration is required. Registration $60 and does not include travel and lodging.
