Auburn police have arrested an man in connection with an early morning shooting that killed an Opelika man.
Prince Marcus Centille Nelson, 27, of Opelika, was charged with murder in connection with the death of Kressman Kerval Jackson.
According to a press release from the Auburn Police Department, officers arrived at an apartment complex in the 400 block of North Dean Road at around 1:20 a.m. in reference to a shooting.
Detectives found a 24-year-old Jackson suffering from a gunshot wound in his chest. He was transported by ambulance to the East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m.
Nellon was apprehended at a residence in Opelika with the assistance of the Opelika Police Department and transported to the Lee County Detention Center where he is being held.
Jackson's body has been taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences medical examiner's office in Montgomery for a postmortem examination.
Police are still investigating the motive of the crime.
